(Clint's POV)

Beep Beep Beep Beep.

I looked up from Nat to see one of the machines hooked up to Chloe making a noise. The doctors must've noticed it too because they were scrambling trying to get her stable.

"Nat... Nat, look." I said shaking her.

She turned around and I could hear her breath get caught in her throat. She walked forward and pressed her hand against the glass.

Dr. Jones looked up at us and nodded. Everyone let out a sigh of relief as the doctors finished what they were doing.

Thor and Tony walked out of the room and Maria followed suit.

"Come on Tasha." I said quietly as I grab her hand.

Steve walked out of the room and we followed with Nat looking back at Chloe one more time before leaving.

"You have some explaining to do." I said repressing a smirk.

———————————

"Hold on. So... your daughter, who you had while you were still working for the red room, and the KGB, and hydra, and all that, is... Chloe? As in the Chloe who is currently in critical condition? That Chloe?" I asked after Natasha explained everything to me.

She nodded.

"So you gave her up. Right?"

She nodded again.

"Then...who's the father?" Natasha's face went very pale at this question.

"I-I don't really know." She confessed.

"You-you don't know? How can you not know?" I questioned her.

"That's just it. It must have happened on a mission where afterward they wiped it from my memory, because I don't know how it happened. All I know is that I wasn't pregnant before that mission, and three weeks later I was pregnant." She explained.

"So you feel responsible for what happened to her." I said.

Nat nodded with tears in her eyes that threaten to spill over.

"It was not your fault that Chloe got hurt." I told her emphasizing the word not.

"What happened to Chloe was an accident. Besides, she's alive. She's safe. She's okay. She's gonna be fine Nat." I assured her, putting my hands on her shoulders.

She sniffed as she nodded her head weakly with a sigh.

"Come here." I said softly as I pulled her into a hug.

She rested her head on my shoulder as I rubbed her back to comfort her.

Knock knock.

The door opened and Bruce walked in. He stared at me and Tasha for a few seconds and then said,

"She's up."

"What?" Natasha asked in disbelief.

"A few minutes ago. Not very much. But enough to say something." Nat looked like she was going to faint.

We sped walked/ran to Chloe's room. Nat opened the door and walked over to Chloe who was asleep.

"She just fell asleep." Dr. Jones said as he hung a stethoscope around his neck.

"I'll let you have a minute alone." He said as he left the room, leaving me and Nat.

I walked around so I could see Chloe. She looked peaceful. Calm. Like she didn't have a care in the world. I saw a tear slide down Natasha's cheek and she quickly wiped it away.
