A diner in New York City.
(Chloe's POV)

Turns out a hamburger tastes even better then Clint described it. It was delicious. It came from a cow. I had never seen one in person, but I had read about them before.

"So... what's a shake like?" I asked.

"What'd ya mean?" Clint asked me with his mouth full of hamburger.

"She means, what does a shake taste like?" Natasha said to Clint. "There delicious, Chloe. I like the strawberry flavor."

"I thought you didn't eat sweets Nat." Natasha scowled at Clint.

"Natasha-"

"Call me Nat, Chloe."

"Nat, I would like a strawberry shake please." I said as best as I could.

Nat ordered me a strawberry shake, and after I had drank the whole thing I ordered another one and then we left so I could see some of the city.

"It is beautiful, I love it. Thank you for taking me out." I exclaimed with happiness.

"You're welcome Chloe." Nat said.

"We were more then happy to- Hang on." Clint said as his phone rang.

"How about we get you some nice clothes next?" I nodded my head.

"Nat, we got to go. Steve thinks he has a lead on something." Clint said as he came back over.

"Uh, tell you what. When I get back we can go and find you some new clothes, ok?" I nodded my head, a little upset but understanding that they had a job to do.

After we got back to avengers tower, Clint and Natasha went to go get ready to leave. I was keeping myself busy when I found a folder with a name on it.

Jamie Hays.

Suddenly I was thrown into a memory I had made myself forget a long time ago.

"Jamie! No don't take him! Please! I'm sorry! Please! Jamie! Please! No! Please! I'm sorry!"

I shook my head trying to forget the horrible memory of the guy I saw as a big brother be taken to the slaughter house.

He couldn't be alive.

"Chloe? You alright?" I turned around to see Steve standing behind me.

"Chloe? Talk to me. What's wrong?" I backed away from the file and Steve.

I ran for the closest door I could find, I pushed the door open and saw a bunch of stairs. I ran up a flight of stairs hardly aware of Steve following me. I ran up another flight of stairs, and another, and another, until I reached the roof. I ran to the edge of the roof; I couldn't breath. I couldn't think.

"Chloe! Chloe look at me!" I turned to see Steve, Nat, Clint, Thor, and Bruce all standing at the roof entrance.

"Chloe, please come away from the edge." Natasha pleaded.

"He's dead! They took him to the slaughter house! They killed him!" I yelled as tears welled up in my eyes.

"Who? Who killed who, Chloe?" Clint asked.

"Jamie!! The file on the table had his picture and name! He can't be alive! They killed him! Hydra killed him! He's dead!"

He's dead.

I broke down in tears and sank to my knees. Nat walked towards me, and slowly she lowered herself to my eye level.

"Chloe. What ever happened to your friend, we will find out. I promise you." She said softly as she wiped away the tears falling down my cheeks. She stood up and waited for me. I stood up, and started to follow her when I lost my balance and fell over the edge of the roof.

"No!" Steve yelled.

"Kid!" Clint yelled.

I heard Nat scream as I fell over the edge.

(Clint's POV)

"Kid!" I yelled as I watched Chloe fall over the edge of the roof.

Steve yelled, Nat screamed, l ran towards her to stop her from jumping after Chloe.

"Nat! Nat look at me! Come here." I said as I pulled her away from the edge into a hug.

Every one was just as shocked, and upset as the next person.

"What is that rumbling?" Thor asked.

I listened carefully and could just make out the sound of a faint rumbling.

Black mist poured over the edge of the roof. I pulled Nat away from the mist that was coming closer at an alarming pace.

Suddenly I could see a few strands of hair, more hair, the top of a head, a girls head, no, Chloe's head! It was Chloe!

Natasha made a sound between a gasp and a sigh of relief. I heard Thor say something in Norse, Bruce said "wow." In a small voice, and Steve had a look of shock and relief on his face.

Chloe had the black mist around her as if it kept her afloat in mid air. I watched as she gently put her feet on the roof. Nat walked over to Chloe slowly, and Chloe dropped to her knees. This time we all rushed over to her to make sure she didn't fall over again.

"I'm... I'm alright." She said weakly as Natasha held her in her lap.

"How did you do that?" Bruce asked.

"Shadow... manipulation... Hydra... tired..." was all she got out before she passed out in Natasha's arms.

Steve bent down next to her and took her from Nat's arms. Nat shot him a look as he picked Chloe up, he nodded, and took her to an extra bedroom on Nat's floor.

After Chloe was in bed we had to have a meeting.

"I'm just saying, we don't know what she can do. We can't know for sure whether or not Hydra put that crazy Mind control stuff in her head or not. All I am saying is that I think we should keep her under carful watch. That's all." Tony said making his side of the argument.

"No. Did you not just see what happened on the roof. She almost jumped. She almost jumped because she freaked out. Imagine how she'll react when she finds out that we're doing the same thing to her as Hydra." Nat retorted.

"We're not doing the same thing as Hy-"

"No! We're just locking her up and running tests on her! Just like they did!" Nat cut him off.

"Natasha." Steve said gently as he put a hand on her shoulder.

"Tony, she does have a point. If we do this, we would be just as bad as them." Steve said trying to calm them both down.

Tony opened his mouth to argue but Steve continued talking before he could say anything.

"But I do think you have a point Tony. We don't know what she's capable of yet. I do think it would be wise to see what the extent of her powers are." He looked at Natasha and I could see her getting ready to yell at him.

"But I do think that it wouldn't be wise to keep her locked up like some sort of animal. She's just a kid after all. And she wouldn't have to do anything she didn't want to do. It's her choice." He said quickly before Nat opened her mouth.

"I'm with Steve on this one. We should find out the limit of her powers, but she is a kid, she needs a semi normal life. It wouldn't be fair of us to lock her up just so we can figure out how she works." I said.

"So we need to find a way to test her powers then." Bruce said.

We all nodded in agreement.
