Samson Donick spent his summers playing AAU basketball for the Bay Area Warriors and Oakland Rebels in tournaments all over the United States. The Bay Area Warriors are a non-profit organization that works with young athletes to help them grow and develop.

Donick was a point guard on the varsity basketball team at Redwood High School from his sophomore to senior years. He was the best player on the team. His senior year, he led the team in points, rebounds, and steals. He was nominated for the Cal-Hi Sports all-state team and was named to the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) all-league team twice. Donick was also named to the all-tournament teams at the Rose City Classic and the Russ Peterich Viking Tip-Off classic. Donick was the team captain and most valuable player when he was a senior. Samson Donick also played on the varsity lacrosse team at Redwood in 2011, when he was a sophomore.
