Ryan Judkins' stories focus on the miraculous and the fantastical within the everyday. His long work, A Lighthouse at Egg Rock, is based on intense historical research into Swampscott, MA in 1864 to establish an accurate setting. The sea serpent sightings were, in fact, real, though the events of the book themselves, of course, are imaginary. He lives in the northeastern United States with his wife, son, and a menagerie of pets.
