A lot of my friends were at the protests in Minneapolis and the news isn't really picking it up yet, but the riots that ended during the day started again just a couple of hours ago. Lots of buildings that I've shopped in and lots of streets I've walked on are now being burned. The rioting is horrible and I hate to see my city being burned so if we can spread awareness for this issue and really start some change, we won't have to have these protests. Systemic racism is very alive in America and I've seen it and many have seen it. I don't want to see something like this happen again (especially to people I care about) and after the protests are over, we're still going to have a problem with racism in the police departments. So, below I include a petition for the other 3 officers involved in the murder being protested to be charged. Spread the petition around! https://act.colorofchange.org/sign/justiceforfloyd_george_floyd_minneapolis/?sp_ref=641500593.176.207236.f.0.2&referring_akid=.7819975.YXDRAw&source=fb_sp&fbclid=IwAR0H406JTc2GT2qvyuhWviHCbII6TP9wBibL0Bwpkx1NYOob-Mmc2wbQoiI

@rjkroeplin rant away. Everything we see on the news, regardless of the network, can become sensationalized. I think it matters most to hear from people who are there and affected. I hope you and your friends and family are safe. I really admire your friend for trying to stand up for what they think is right. It is so hard nowadays. And scary.

@greydaygirl It is really hard right now. There's more riots happening in the city right now and things are only going to get worse. Some of my friends have had to evacuate and I'm thinking of going to the protest tomorrow, but there are rumors of white nationalist groups online saying they're going to come and loot and riot. I do think we can get out of this and we can push forward, but I know the world right now sees our city as this horrible place when really some of the most amazing people live here. And, it's very true that people from outside of the city (my friends have talked to a lot of these people) have been the ones trying to insight violence and trying to get people riled up when all most people want to do at these protests is peacefully protest. My friend got between a group of a dozen men that were destroying a cop car and got them to all stop (the videos somewhere online) and I've seen a lot of people I know personally really rise up and take control to make the situation better. Wow that was a rant, my bad! I've been talking about this all day with friends and family in the area.

Thank you so much for being so positive. It can be hard to find a way forward from things like this.
