I wrote my first fantasy story in middle school in 1996, and I only went over the page count requirement by 400%.

You can probably relate.

My passion for writing disappeared sometime in my early 20s, probably in the midst of all the reading requirements for a degree in English, ironically. A few years later, when I decided to take a break from all the literary fiction in my graduate studies and go back to my old love of epic fantasy, I discovered Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings. My passion was rekindled.

My work is epic in scope but intimate in its telling. When good people do good things, the world is changed. In epic fantasy, this change can be both literal and figurative, and the story is all the more powerful because of it.
