hello, it's been a while! I've been doing rather poorly due to my health lately, and by "lately" I mean the past several years . . . which has made it difficult to do much of anything really.

          ngl, my life is kind of not great right now, so honestly, who knows when I'll update next! health-wise, i am also feeling absolutely horrible! but it's fine!! I am just happy to finally post anything at all at this point lol.
          
          the timeline/order of events of this chapter and remaining chapters diverge somewhat from the original version of the story but to be honest, I don't actually remember what the original story looks like anymore lmao.

I feel like I ought to make some sort of annual status announcement lol. I’m still here. A bit. Not too active. A ton has happened for me in the last year and I am incredibly busy. 
          
          I may or may not come back at some point in 2023. It depends on how my schooling and health is going!

Chapter 15 is up! Please enter this chapter at your own risk. It is one of the most psychologically messed up chapters in the book. Heed the content warnings on the book. Like all of them. (Except graphic violence, ironically.) This chapter deals with more of the mental side of things as opposed to action. But, it is also one of the chapters I am pleased with. I think it's the point where we start really diving into the minds of the lead characters.
          
          It may be a little bit before I get the next chapter out. I reshuffled and added  stuff in the latter half of the story when I edited, and there was a small conflict in the order of the chapters initially. I can't actually remember if I've already sorted it all out or not yet . . . but regardless, it's just a matter of shuffling the order around!

Chapter 14 is up! From this point on, there are some minor plot changes from the original version. I think this is where it does actually diverge a little. (Still does not change the overall plot, but the order of some character appearances have been shuffled around.)
          
          This is one of my favorite chapters because, apparently, I am a sadist. Sorry, Essa. (Is the author actually sorry? Ha . . .)

Chapter 13 is up! I hadn't liked how this chapter turned out in the original version. I didn't actually changed very much (there's no change to the events of this chapter - just some things like the order of interactions and minor settings), but the edits I made I feel help it flow better. I'm happy with how it turned out!
          
          (Also, we get to see basically all my faves to write being nuisances to each other lol.)

Alas! I have finally updated "Card Painter". I meant to update more quickly, since my hard edits are done, but then my brain was halfway through my final pass over the chapter and decided, "You know what? We're rewriting this." And so I made some more edits. I hadn't been entirely satisfied with what the chapter'd been initially, but I'm quite happy with it now!
