I am at chapter 21 of The Way we Get By and I just have to say thank you for writing such an awesome book! I don't have an eating disorder but I can relate with so much of what Alex is going through in regards to his depression and mental health. And I even was given an insight in just how much sometimes our parents' fear and desire for us to get better can come off as uncaring and overbearing when that's really not the case. I am currently going through a similar struggle with getting my mother to try and understand and be more sympathetic to my mental struggles, and just like Alex I too believed that she just doesn't get it. But seeing Ramona and Liam's care and worry for their son shows me it's not that she doesn't care but sometimes things like these are just a lot to deal with especially when you don't want to see the people you love most i.e your children suffer. It has really given me quite a perspective in what my mother must be feeling and because of this book I am also going to try and be more understanding with her. I can't wait to see the conclusion to this awesome book and I am adding Yours Truly Ramona to my library. I can't wait to read it I know it's gonna be awesome just like Alex's story.
