I have one mission in life: to engage you with the biggest and most exciting story you have ever read: Time Crystal. The central character is Catriona O’Brien. When the story begins she is a 14-year-old Irish school-girl, petite, wiry, tough yet gentle. Pretty with emerald green eyes, a neat, snub nose, full lips and medium-length ginger hair which is typically wild and ungovernable. She has persuaded her step-father Sam to go to Geneva for the Easter holidays, ostensibly to visit her dominant mother Brigit, the Irish Ambassador to the United Nations. But in reality Catriona wants to visit CERN, where she hopes to solve the mystery of her scientist-father’s death.
It is the first day of running the famous Large Hadron Collider with its gigantic underground particle detectors such as ATLAS. As Catriona, Sam and Brigit drive to CERN, strong magnetic fields in ATLAS capture a particle called a ‘cosmic monopole’ which has been wandering the universe since the Big Bang. It then absorbs particles from the beam and becomes transformed into a black hole which emerges from the detector and absorbs Sam and little Chinese-Irish scientist Michael Zhang.
Seconds later, time stops everywhere in the universe except near mysterious fragments of blue crystal which come out of the black hole. A time tunnel opens up which leads back to the Big Bang. Catriona has a piece of crystal and can talk to Sam. He tells her to bring her crystal down the tunnel so Michael can restart time. But unknown to Catriona, Michael has been transformed into a monstrous creature outside the universe, and other monsters are coming up the time tunnel trying to find the Earth so they can mate with human women.
This is the start of Time Crystal, my multi-volume epic which will follow Catriona and other characters as they travel back through history in a desperate attempt to restart time. You can read the first volume, The Cosmic Monopole, free. I hope you will love it.
