Graduating from Moore College of Art and Design in 2008, I discovered my passion for writing six years later. I gravitated towards the Young Adult Fantasy genre. One, I wanted to depart life lessons I had wished I had been given during my childhood and teen years. Two, who doesn't love to escape into a world where magic and supernatural creatures exist. What sets me apart from other authors is that I was born with a vision disorder called "Visual Mid-line Shift Syndrome." While it isn't due to genetics because it thought to be cause by a form of head trauma, it hasn't prohibited me from pursuing my creative outlets. However, it does make recognize spelling patterns. An example I use is "chow-ce." It took quite some time to realize the word I was reading was "chaos." This is because my brain wants to break the word down into parts instead of reading it as a whole. My vision disorder also makes the written word to be overwhelming at times and a strain to my eyes from all the movement I constantly see.

I would describe the movement to be more of a filter than a distortion. Think of it as, trying to see past an invisible hand waving in front of your face, an invisible ripple/rain, the vapor above a flame, and lastly an invisible static. This movement worsens with reading, the written word makes it difficult for tracking, among other things. Audiobooks have been the saving grace of keeping my love of "reading" alive. I currently live in Philadelphia with my two cats, John and Mary. Shout out to my wonderful editor, Malory Wood from The Missing Ink llc. She has continued to push and encourages me to be a better writer with each novel, short story, and every draft.
