I'm in love with the written word and the way it can change people. There are so many ways in which the acts of writing and reading can have a profound affect on people and it's an area that isn't given the attention and funding it deserves. 

I don't believe, as many seem to, that writing has to be a solitary activity. Of course, solitude is needed at times, but there is a lot that writers can learn from each other, in conversation and collaboration. This can also come from other artists and finding ways to mix words with other media to make both more accessible.
