SomewhatDistracted

Hello, everyone! I hope this message finds you healthy and happy! I am coming to you to ask for help. For the past couple years, I have been in a writing rut. I'm trying so hard to claw my way out. Normally, I'd frown on this kind of post, but I feel like you might be able to help me. If you had a say in the matter, which story would you want me to work on (sorry for any lame descriptions that follow):

          	A) Lily-- Speculative Fiction--College student gets involved with a cult whose plan is to overthrow the government (The Green Rising)

          	B) Cheline-- Paranormal Mystery, with a heavy dose of comedy--A ghost who's been summoned from the other side...and helps solve some murders. (Unfashionably Dead Sequel)

          	C) Ivy-- YA Paranormal--A school in TX has started enrolling Sick kids who have developed allergies to the sun and garlic. (Yes, those sick kids are vampires). (Sick)

          	D) Cami-- YA Contemporary--Her soldier dad has three rules when they move to Germany: Don't embarrass us, don't get too attached, and whatever you do, don't fall in love. (New story...has 40k words

          	E) Jenelle--Romantic Comedy-- A bachelorette party...but she's not actually getting married. (An update of a partial story I had on here in the past)

If you took the time to read all of this, thank you. And if you respond, thank you. I'm just really trying to get unstuck.

@SomewhatDistracted So sorry you are stuck in a rut - there is no quick solution for that. Just wanted to send good vibes your way. All of the options look like they have potential but the one that I thought was the most interesting is C - is it a comedy? There are so much material to work from with allergies or I might even go further and add diet restrictions. I find it so hard to throw dinner parties these days because I have not what idea I can cook that everyone can eat and that won't have me in the kitchen all day. Hope you have a great weekend!

@SomewhatDistracted Writing ruts are rotten. It's never bad to ask for feedback or help (I know, we don't much though, do we?). C caught my eye and made me giggle. I'm assuming it's not going to be super dark since it's YA but it looks like something that would definitely get me to take a peek. :)

And I am posting stories again! My oldest daughters have been begging me to write them a story for a few years, and finally, I've started one for them. It is called "Sick," and it's about a young lady who comes down with a virus that leaves her with some new allergies and a change in diet.

I'm still alive! It's just been a difficult two years. Eventually I will write again. The words and stories are there, I just don't like how they come out.

Hi girl!
Thanks for dedicating a chapter to me!
I do appreciate it and I am looking forward to your next works :)

happygirl1

My pleasure. Quite literally ;)

@happygirl1 I will. I'm actually in the process of writing a sequel that I think will appear in an anthology. At this point, I'm hoping that it will be a short story. I don't think Cheline will be in this one, but it will definitely bridge the time.

Thanks again for all of your support. :)

Came over to thank you for dedicating a chapter to me and saw your header photo. That's a Great Pyr! I've had two. Love them dearly. Fantastic beasties.

XimeraGrey

Thank you so very much! I really appreciate that. (You made me feel all warm and fuzzy.)

I really do appreciate it, but listen -- the best advice in the world is useless unless it falls on willing ears. You listened and then did the work to implement. That's all on you, and you should be proud of it.

Give that Pyr a kiss from me. I miss mine.

@XimeraGrey Yes, he's a Pyr. Beautiful dogs and great with the kids.

You are so welcome, but seriously: Thank YOU! About a year ago, I posted an excerpt of my first chapter in one of the "Critique the excerpt" threads in the Improve Your Writing Club. You gave me some wonderful advice. Wattpad is lucky to have you as a regular.

@DarinkaZobenica tagged me to list 13 facts about myself. (I hope I don't bore you).

          1. I am in my forties.
          2. I'm originally from Indiana but have lived much of the past 11 years in the south.
          3. I can pop my shoulder out of socket. It's fun to do that around the kids. Creeps them out every time.
          4. I used to teach English as a Second Language. I looked really young at the time and my students would always say that I could go undercover as a student.
          5. Yes, I really did jello wrestle. It was against a male bodybuilder and somehow I survived. My skin had a red tint to it for about a week though.
          6. I'm trying to get back into shape. I've been trying to walk at least five miles per day. Well, when my husband isn't away, I'm not sick, or the kids aren't sick.
          7. I speak Spanish quite well and can speak a little bit of French and Portuguese. I am still learning English. My friends from across the pond tell me that "gash" doesn't mean what I think it does.
          8. I need a mirror to tell you my eye color. Brown, green, or hazel, depending on my mood and what I'm wearing.
          9. I prefer to write in complete silence. With four kids, a dog, and a cat, it's hard to find time when it is quiet enough for me to write.
          10. I'm currently working on a new story. I have it entirely planned and am about halfway through the sixth chapter. I'm hoping that it will bring back my writing mojo.
          11. I only watch about one hour of TV per week. Survivor.
          12. My family is my life.
          13. I think I might join the circus when I grow up.
