I was born in Montreal, Canada. I studied English Lit at McGill and then moved to Toronto to work for Harlequin Enterprises, the romance publisher.

Unfortunately, I never met Fabio.

But the job did inspire me to write my first novel, MILKRUN. (It's all about a girl who works for a romance publisher but can't find a decent boyfriend.)

Since then I've written a whole bunch of books.

Chick lit-- FISHBOWL, AS SEEN ON TV, MONKEY BUSINESS and ME VS. ME.

Teen lit-- The Magic in Manhattan series: BRAS & BROOMSTICKS, FROGS & FRENCH KISSES, SPELLS & SLEEPING BAGS and PARTIES & POTIONS, GIMME A CALL, TEN THINGS WE DID (AND PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE), HOW TO BE BAD (along with Lauren Myracle and E. Lockhart) and DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT (out March 11th!).

Kid lit--The Whatever After series: FAIREST OF ALL, IF THE SHOE FITS, SINK OR SWIM, DREAM ON (out this fall) and BAD HAIR DAY (out this spring).

Non-Fiction: SEE JANE WRITE (co-written with Farrin Jacobs).

My books have been translated into twenty-nine languages and optioned by Hollywood.

I live in New York City with my husband and two (adorable) daughters.
