Working on my second half-century but I've only been writing for about ten years or so. I started out writing silly, gif-enhanced bits called 'The Y Team', which starred several of the members of the msn group I belonged to at the time. These were only seen by a limited number of people (members of the group) but a couple of them told me I should get more ambitious about it.
So I did. I joined a fantasy writers site and started entering their monthly challenges. After two challenges I got ambitious and decided to try the NaNoWriMo.
The experience was enlightening and enjoyable, and I learned a lot about what it takes to write a 50,000 + word story in thirty days. It was called 'A Stitch in Time', but I fell short of the goal at a little over 45,000 words. I did eventually finish it though it still needs a lot of work.
I also wrote a series of short stories in 2005 called The Book of Xyxyx. I'm now working on my latest idea, Starfall, which I hope will be a little more involved and involving.
For some good, solid stories that are worth reading, I recommend -
