I love to read, but the distractions of the 21st century such as social networking and texting has been adding inertia to my reading :/

a bit of science fiction
philosophy and psychology
stuff like that
I also love music
mostly indie rock
Arctic monkeys, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The Killers, The Vaccines
pretty much any band with The in front of it. Haha.
im not (i hope) a musical snob though. i do listen to pop, and any other form of music :)
Why im writing :
im picking up writing as a hobby as i think its a great way to be expressive. Model answers aside, i really do love reading, and writing is like the product of reading is it not?
its like the residue after a reaction,
the humming after the hearing,
the ...
fecal matter after fried food.
My alias:
im also writing as the alias Pygmalyon, after the character of greek mythology- Pygmalion.
Pygmalion was a sculptor who tried to create emulate beauty by sculpting the Greek God of Beauty, Aphrodite. But nevertheless, he could never recreate beauty in the form of life.
The reality is, beauty is an essence that can never fully be preserved. it can be replicated to the highest form, photographed, placed on canvas. But the preservation of beauty, itself is a fallacy. For perhaps, the eroding of what we define to be beautiful, is the beauty of what we are trying so hard to preserve.
So yup, as much as that is the philosophy i think i'd live by, ill be using writing to (inevitably try ) to capture the beauty of life, and stuff like that:)
