Greetings and Happy Holidays to my readers! I promised I would notify everyone when book 6 of the Elf Gate series was finally done, so it is finished and available now at Amazon and Smashwords. Check out my author pages on either of those sites to get the correct reading order for any books you've missed in the series. THE TEUFLING continues that story arc with Aija going home (to the wrong time!), and Trizryn meeting some old foes (like Ilisram from the short story featured here on Wattpad, "Some Enchanted Evening" ... and himself?). They need to find the two missing pieces of a powerful artifact that could spare the fae realms an all-out war between two dragon factions.

I hope everyone is staying safe and holding up well as we bring this bizarre year to a close. Happy reading!

I have something new to share. :3 It's teeny tiny -- a one-shot short story that I revised today after taking a Skillshare class on suspense. I originally wrote this story as a fan-fiction, but in revising it I made it completely my own. So, if you've read the Elf Gate beta series I posted here, these characters and their world will look familiar. If not, it shouldn't matter because it can stand alone. It's called "Some Enchanted Evening" and it's about a magic lesson gone wrong. Or did it? ;)

I started to read the first elf gate series a few weeks ago and decided to buy it without hesitation as I am so engrossed into it. This is the first book I have read in a few years and I'm hooked! Thank you for this amazing series I'm looking forward to reading them all.☺

MelodyDaggerhart

Ah! Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy them. As you might have seen mentioned in other places here, there are two more books to finish the series that are not yet published, but when they are ready, I will announce that here and all the rest of my "portals" in cyberspace. Progress is slow because I have a lot going on right now, and these books have to checked and double-checked against every other book in the series that has already been published because they are an interdependent arc that I'm trying hard to keep relatively consistent. But I'm steadily chipping away at it! Meanwhile, I do hope you enjoy the first five books, and thanks again for your support. ^_^

@KonaDragon, thank you. ^_^ I'm hanging in there, so I will likely offer something else in the future. I didn't want to pull them, but the Elf Gate series was too much work over too many years to allow someone else to use my books for their marketing scam. Until Wattpad can give authors an option to prevent that (and I don't mean simply blocking someone -- I mean preventing them from using other people's identities and works to set up network scams to push their own stuff) I will be cautious of what I post here.

For some time now I've been wondering if it was time to pull my stories from Wattpad and monetize them. Each book published here was simultaneously published at Amazon and Smashwords. But the decision to pull them from free distribution was not something I truly wanted to do ... until now. Because of the flood of fake followers this account has been receiving lately, I have decided it is time to make that switch.

My books are still available for sale at Amazon and Smashwords. When book 6 is ready for publication, I will make that announcement here and that is where you can find it, as well. I appreciate all the encouragement I've received over the years from readers here, and I thank you for your support. I hope I will continue to have your support and encouragement as I take my publications to the next level. But I don't wish for my books to be used in this way.

Maybe I will post short writings here in the future. But for now I have decided to shift my Wattpad account's focus to reading and reviewing. :)

Hi, @XavierAdon . I hope you did get a chance to finish all five books before I decided to pull them. I just finished the third revision of chapter 16 in book 6 today, so it's slowly, but surely, getting there. Thanks for the feedback, and I will be sure to post a notice here when it's published. :)

I just got over 50 new "followers" in a period of a few days, while at the same time receiving over 100 new spam emails in an account that got only 1-2 spam per month before the fake account followers appeared. This saddens me beyond words because now there isn't a single account on social networks I haven't had that weren't piggybacked by someone spamming the hell out of my friends/followers/circles, etc. to market their own agenda. I offer my story betas for free for a few reasons.

          1) I grew up very poor, and if it wasn't for free books at the library, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy literature as much as I did. I was fortunate to go to college at one point in my life, but much of my learning is self-taught because I couldn't afford lessons or classes. However, I was capable of checking out free books, free blogs, and free videos. While in college, I even worked in the campus library. I am a huge supporter of libraries and free education being good investments in the future of *everyone*. Education makes the world a better place and shouldn't belong just to the privileged. And to me that is kind of what social media publishing is -- a small library.
          2) I want genuine connection with readers who might like the kinds of stories I write. I need to know if I have an audience for the kinds of stories I write, so I can decide whether it's worth the effort to keep publishing them.
          3) I welcome feedback in the form of constructive criticism for the betas, then use that for final edits.

Free stories shouldn't be taken advantage of for spam marketing when the only thing the writer wants in return for sharing is a genuine exchange of interest. Fake accounts can make a writer stop offering stories for free in spite of their hard work. And that punishes genuine readers who, for whatever reason, are seeking free literature. If you are a genuine reader with a real account and have discussed or voted for my story, thank you. Sincerely.
