Katipunan ng Alternatibong Dibuho, Liriko, at Titik is the brainchild of three irascible writers (Marius, Maria Kristelle, John Benedict) who wanted nothing more than to help up-and-coming writers, artists and musicians to find ways to express themselves and be read/seen/heard. It is hard enough to be a writer/artist/musician nowadays-it is doubly hard to go at it alone. And thus, the idea of creating a community that catered to these distinct fields and worlds came to be.
The fact of the matter is we all need help. Obviously, we can't always turn to educational institutions for help. Not everyone can attend national writing workshops or enroll in theater, music courses and creative writing courses. Apart from the time-intensive nature of these 'solutions' to the epistemic gap, not everyone has the financial capacity to enroll just to learn how to write/sketch/paint/play the piano.
Being writers, musicians and artists in the Third World, we are faced with so many difficulties. Third World nations are generally hostile to the arts and we are generally considered 'useless' because our passions in life do not correspond to agricultural/commercial/industrial labor. Our labors reflect something else-a sincere love for the human mind and what the future might hold if we somehow changed how people perceived both personal and social realities.
Thank you for joining us in one of the most challenging and rewarding ambitions in literature and the arts!
