What if Valen was not a prisoner in Arden? What if she was a member of Seth's crew all along? She is the moody distant witch in an all fae crew that becomes fast friends with Rae...

ToshForrester

@HannahGLaine lol! well now I am just eager to be reading :)

@ToshForrester and i have the perfect back story for why she is with Seth's crew too!! :)... look forward to the book Truth Witch :)

@HannahGLaine perfectly good way to introduce her, I don't recall there being an explicit reason for her being captive in the first version, so yeah, go for it :)

So I may or may not have accidentally unpublished Lady Death... and then decided to keep it unpublished... tbh it was an accident when I unpublished The King's Assassin, that one is back up, my bad.

I am starting the story over with The Kingdoms of Dyron... please don't be mad.... TBH if you really want to finish reading Lady Death, I will leave it up on Tapas.

Msttali

Thank you for the heads up. Lady Death was a good read, looking forward to The Kingdoms of Dyron. Keep up the good work!

Idea.... for the series.... What if I changed it to:
The Kingdoms of Dyron (Formally The Dark Queen)
          The Curse of the Witch
          The Princess of the North
          The Child of Storms
The Assassin of Kilian ( Formerly The King's Assassin, will need to make some changes)
The Lady of Death (Formerly TKoD or Lady Death)

ToshForrester

@HannahGLaine Those work for me, except for The Child of Storms... assuming that is Seth's story, idk it doesn't have the "weight" that the other titles carry? but that's just my two penn'orth :)

Did I make Seth too powerful? I wonder sometimes if having power over literal storms is too powerful? Should I change his magic in the re-write? the only thing is I really like how before Rae even meets him, she hears his thunder in the distance, coming closer to the prison.

@ToshForrester omg sharknadoes yessss... im dead now

@HannahGLaine and really it is more about his control of air/wind, which he has trained/fine-tuned to be able to lift masses of warm, wet surface air high into the atmosphere, classic thunderstorm physics rather than rotating huge masses of air, he probably can't affect that much air enough to make that happen and he can't control enough atmosphere for blizzard type conditions, though I guess uncontrolled hail might happen occasionally.

Second question, less important than the previous question... The book cover... I created it so of course, I am in love with it... however, do you think I should change the old Lady Death one to something different so it does not look so similar to the Kingdoms of Dyron one, or should I attempt to make a new Kingdoms of Dyron book cover...

When I do my other books in this series, I want the covers to all to have a common theme. I can't decide if the current book cover for KoD would work for that. I will probably play around with it some...

ToshForrester

@HannahGLaine ohh O really like that, and you know, the butterfly and the ivy makes for a great thematic link, great job!

So currently in Kingdoms of Dyron,
I have a prologue "The Twin Queen" that gives a bit of history.
Then I have chapter one, which is about a guy who gives his life to save his troops.
Then I have Chapter two that finally jumps into the story.
Would it be too much back and forth to put a chapter in after Chapter Two that talks about Rae's past as a child, or should I save that for later on in the book?
If you read Lady Death, I am thinking about moving the chapter about Rae after she first gets her magic and how her friend is no longer her friend because of it.

HannahGLaine

@ToshForrester I am for sure already planning to do that. :)

@HannahGLaine :) what I am looking forward to is reading your lore & history in story form rather than the "textbook" snippets you gave us in LD and I have total confidence that you can make that happen.
It doesn't have to be half of the book, I still want to read Rae's story above all at the moment :)

@ToshForrester That is really well put. IDK if saying half the story will be Dyron's history would be accurate. I had the idea of following two different characters and their stories (that don't actually take place at the same time) but i have not figured out how to make that work yet...
