Derek~~ The beauty of posting your work on Wattpad is two-fold. First, you get valuable feedback--almost immediately. Imagine if Tolstoy could have tweaked his chapters as people read them. You do get some interesting comments and insights this way, not the least to mention is the trivial copy editing that some people take upon themselves to provide. Secondly, you begin to build a "platform"for your work--an avid readership which is willing to take on other works of yours simply because they enjoy one or two. As you have probably learned the painful truth, print publishing houses will not even consider your writing if it does not have a tried and proven readership numbering many thousands and is their eyes marketable. Literary agents (the proverbial gate-keeepers of the trade are the same--always looking not only for that unique voice and imagination, but an established platform. This is exactly why I keep my works on Wattpad--for the exposure (people now Google me all the time) and will come back to my new works more readily. As an example my "The Tattooed Princess (Book One) now has 320,000 reads, My werewolf tale", Crisa's Mate (my fïrst attempt at Lycan stories), now has 62,000 reads in a relatively short time. Even though I sell my books on Amazon.com as e-books ( a paltry income I must admitt), the platform is always building and my goal is to use both avenues to fint their way to a good literary agent.
Hope this helps. Write on!
