I am sorry that this took me so long to say.
George Floyd's murder was an act of extreme brutality and senseless cruelty.
George Floyd was handcuffed and an officer of the law put his knee on the man's neck for the crime of trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill he may not have even known about. Is that what human lives are worth now? $20? No, and I refuse to live in a society where such things happen.
The pain and anger and fury of the African-American community is entirely justified. They are forced to fear the people who are supposed to protect them.
They are forced to think about every single thing they do or say, fearing that someone might call the police and that they will kill them in the name of 'Serving and Protecting'. Enough is enough.
People of all races, all over the world have joined the movement. Police officers have joined the protests.
The people have demanded demonstrable, systemic change. Things will change, they have to, because the global community will not stop fighting until they do.
Anyone who is reading this and is able, please go to the official Black Lives Matter page and donate to the National Bail Fund, because, as Martin Luther King Jr once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
