Series of the Month--February.
Hey hey hey! It's that time of month again.
This time, I'm _not_ doing Brandon Sanderson. Congratulations!
No, this is actually an '80s book by one of my favorite authors.
Tamora Pierce: Song of the Lioness Quartet.
          	So, here's the rundown:
Alanna is a young girl in medieval times. She really wants to become a knight--But girls can't become knights. Her twin brother, Thom, really wants to become the world's greatest mage.
Alanna is about to be sent to some sort of finishing school where she's going to learn to be a "proper lady" and probably some very basic magic. Thom is about to be sent off to go become a knight.
          	So, what do they do?
          	Switch places, obviously.
Alanna goes and becomes a knight in Thom's place. Thom runs and goes to a mage's school, though, not her finishing school. (That'd just be weird.)
All the first two books, "Alanna: The First Adventure" and "In the Hand of the Goddess," are about Alanna as she's going through training--from being a page, to squire, to knight. The last two books, "The Woman Who Rides Like A Man" and "Lioness Rampant," are about her as a knight.
They start off when she's eleven and I think when Tamora is completely finished with Tortall she's. . . Forty-nine? I think? I dunno I read them two years ago so I'm a little fuzzy.

If you would like to read the book legally, here's a website you can purchase it on:
          	  http://books.simonandschuster.com/Song-of-the-Lioness-Quartet/Tamora-Pierce/Song-of-the-Lioness/9781481416498
So frustrating! I wish all authors had a website like Brandon Sanderson where it's really easy to just give you a link and you can purchase the series with either audiobook, graphic audio, novel, or ebook. Goodness gracious Brandon, you spoil me!

So! It's that time again. .
          Series of the Month--January
          Brandon Sanderson: The Rithmatist.
Oh dear; I chose another Sanderson book! xD I guess I'm just that much of a fan.
          Here's the official description!
More than anything, Joel wants to be a Rithmatist. Chosen by the Master in a mysterious inception ceremony, Rithmatists have the power to infuse life into two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists are humanity’s only defense against the Wild Chalklings—merciless creatures that leave mangled corpses in their wake. Having nearly overrun the territory of Nebrask, the Wild Chalklings now threaten all of the American Isles.
As the son of a lowly chalkmaker at Armedius Academy, Joel can only watch as Rithmatist students learn the magical art that he would do anything to practice. Then students start disappearing—kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving trails of blood. Assigned to help the professor who is investigating the crimes, Joel and his friend Melody find themselves on the trail of an unexpected discovery, one that will change Rithmatics—and their world—forever.
This is a VERY fun and mysterious read. Unfortunately, there are a few questions left unanswered but this was written in 2013 so Brandon is likely to write another Rithmatist book, we just don't know when.
I mean, after all, after Bands of Mourning the next Wax & Wayne book is coming out in 2018. AGHGH
I highly suggest The Rithmatist if you don't mind that!
          -Jay

So, I have come to say this: I am scrapping my original copy of Northeast and rewriting the first ten chapters. I do not believe that it is presentable and there are so many things that I want to change that I just can't go back and rewrite little bits of the chapters. When I say rewrite I mean REWRITE. I also think that the setup for the book is dumb. . . And there are bits of the characters and backstory and such that I wish to change.
          Yours truly,
          -Jay

So, I FINALLY am able to use the computer for a small amount of time to give y'all a Series of the Month!
          Series of the Month--December
And what have I chosen for this month. .?
          Brandon Sanderson: The Reckoners.
Despite Brandon Sanderson being a FANTASTIC adult fantasy author, he's also FANTASTIC for YA fantasy/sci-fi.
Steelheart and Firefight are the first two books of the bunch. Calamity, the final book, is coming out next year I believe.
I chose this series not just because I LOVE Brandon, but because the main character's name is David. I thought it would be fitting for this month's series of the month, because my brother David's birthday is actually Christmas day. Fun little fact right there for ya!
WHAT IS STEELHEART ABOUT, MIGHT YOU ASK?
That is a good question. I'll answer it for you, with the beginning little thing for the book.

          There are no heroes.
Every single person who manifested powers—we call them Epics—turned out to be evil.
Here, in the city once known as Chicago, an extraordinarily powerful Epic declared himself Emperor. Steelheart has the strength of ten men and can control the elements. It is said no bullet can harm him, no sword can split his skin, no explosion can burn him. He is invincible.
It has been ten years. We live our lives as best we can. Nobody fights back . . . nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans who spend their lives studying powerful Epics, finding their weaknesses, then assassinating them.
My name is David Charleston. I’m not one of the Reckoners, but I intend to join them. I have something they need. Something precious, something incredible. Not an object, but an experience. I know his secret.
          I’ve seen Steelheart bleed.
And I WILL see him bleed again.

It's a really good read if you're into that sci-fi fantasy type o' thing. Message me for more details if you like! Later!
          -Jay

Hey everyone! I'm not dead! The only problem, well. . . My computer is. The PC died and, well, I'm ashamed to say it, but, I'm typing this message via Mac. Everything is currently on hiatus--hold--while we're getting the computer fixed.
Unfortunately, this includes Series of the Month. :/
          I'm so sorry!
