Hi friends!!

I know that I am like the most absentee author ever and mostly that's because I have officially started graduate school for writing! (EEK!)

I've been reworking Amethyst for the past 18 months trying to shop her to literary agents, but I have largely come up empty. The ugly truth is that this book is looooooong, I am unknown, and apparently dragons and bears aren't as spicy as I tend to think they are. ;)

BUT that doesn't mean that I am giving up! My general plan is this: I am set to finish a literary memoir by December (shooting for August though). I have two "ins" to query some well known agents that look pretty promising. My friends in the industry (who both are published with Random House) say that if I can prove I can write with something more "publishable" like the memoir, that I can then work with the agent to get Amethyst's saga published. My hope is that once I sell the memoir, I can focus 100% on making Amethyst's story stronger and then bring it to true publication.

SO. That means a few things:
First of all, if you have left comments or starred chapters, know that I have seen it. I have doubted myself a lot as an author getting these rejections (This book has been turned down by EIGHTY EIGHT agents now), but I have kept the Wattpad notifications on my phone. Every time I see one of you working through the chapters or liking things, I am reminded that somewhere, someone is reading and someone cares. So thank you for inspiring me.

Second, PLS SHARE THE HELL OUT OF THIS STORY. I am praying that if we can get to 500k, someone will take notice and will help us bring Elendyria into legitimacy. I want nothing more than to keep writing Amethyst's life (and Maryssa's! And Rowyn's! And Ellayne's! (and you haven't even really MET the last two yet!)).

Thanks for believing in me this long. Let's make our dreams a reality.

          	P.S.

I'm back. I promise to check in at least weekly to show I care. <3

I am far from being a professional writer. Heck, I'm only in my freshman year of high school! But I love to help people so I'm going to try to give you ideas. As I give you some advice, look over it. You don't have to accept it if you don't want to knowing I am not a pro. 1) Proofread. Look over the comments and suggestions you have received and grammar/spelling check. It makes the story look just slightly better. 2) Try self-publication. Get your name out there. If someone sees your book, reads it, and likes it, they will spread word about your book and (possibly) send you reviews. Have family and friends read your book(s) and give feedback. 3) Just keep trying your hardest and have faith in yourself. I know getting negative feedback on anything can be a letdown and annoying. If you just keep trying something fruitful will happen. I personally love your writing and want to see something major happen with it. It would be amazing if you got published and got your book in stores to be sold. Keep everyone here updated on any progress you make. Just keep fighting!

AnnaKathrynDavis

@BlastedBrain Thank you so much!! I know it's been a while since you left this but I want you to know that it legitimately means the world to me that you took the time to engage with Elendyria and the ones who call it home <3

Hi! I am a big fan of your book, Amethyst of the Fringe! I want to write a short booklet on fantasy reccomendations. Could i possibly feature this amazing work?

AnnaKathrynDavis

@ripple_writer Hi friend! I know it's obviously way late to be commenting back and no worries about the feature. I am flattered and truly honored that you wanted to include it in the first place. I have been a bit MIA and that's on me, but please know that I am very grateful for your reading <3

I just finished reading Amethyst of the Fringe and I absolutely loved it!! It's so hard to find an engaging book with depth on Wattpad, Thank you so much for posting this book!!!

AnnaKathrynDavis

@BasicAverageWeirdo Hi friends!! I apologize for the delay in responding. No excuses - but just know I am so glad you both enjoyed it! Some of the problem is that I don't really know how to make it more accessible "/ . Do y'all have any suggestions for tags that might help it more discoverable?
