Please don't delete DMs. I entered here as a college goer in 2019 but now I guess I won't be able to connect with my colleagues.

Why would they delete the private message tray? I have messages there since 2015, for me they are a memory of when I was just a little girl :((

Dear Wattpad,
          I, like many others, use Wattpad not just for its vast library of stories but also as a platform to connect with friends and fellow readers. The personal messaging feature is an integral part of this connection. It allows us to discuss our favorite books, share ideas, and even roleplay within the universes we love so much. For many of us who don't have access to other platforms or websites, this is our only means of staying connected.
          
          Wattpad currently hosts over 90 million users worldwide (source: Wattpad Corp). If the personal messaging feature were removed, it would disrupt the communication channels for a significant number of these users - myself included. This would not only impact user experience but could potentially lead to a decrease in active users.
          
          The removal of personal messaging on Wattpad isn't just about losing a feature; it's about losing connections that have been built over time through shared interests and discussions. We urge Wattpad to reconsider their decision and preserve the personal messaging feature for its dedicated user base.
          
          So wattpad we have made a petition to go against this act, to show we are not proud of it and want what we always had. Our freedom of speech and expression. If you take that away if you took that away then you just took our first amendment rights (Amendment 1)
          And if you're thinking it's a petty, small petition. You're wrong. This petition has 5.5k+ signatures in less than a day. And we’re getting more.

A new petition has been created demonstrating general discontent and once again we ask you to withdraw your decision to eliminate the private messaging option which will be given on May 6. Instead we ask for the creation of a better messaging system so that writers can not only chat with their friends in other parts of the world but also have the possibility of sharing ideas for stories together

Please, do not delete the option to talk to another writers. I have a friend what i'm talking in this app.

Zero idea where to go with this so I’ll drop it here:
          
          There’s a pretty popular writer on here (millions of story reads, 30k followers, and ex-ambassador) who is/was also a psychologist. She posts stories about the ‘true’ stories of her patients (in which they’re the main characters), which breaks patient confidentiality. So even though she says she got permission to write about them, it’s still illegal, plus I don’t think they knew how popular the story would get. 
          
          Furthermore, she’s an adult woman, and she’ll write herself into her books as the love interest of her main characters—many of whom are minors, which is a little bit creepy/obsessive.
          
          As someone who was one of the male/main characters in these books, and now realizes the unhealthy and grooming-esque nature of them, is there anything I can do?

Why are PMs/DMs being removed? 
          It's such a fundamental part of being a writer here, communicating to friends and other authors. I, and many others, have such fond memories in those chats, and to lose them, it's already heartbreaking.
          I certainly have not been on here the longest, but I still have many years of experience here. I've met lifelong friends through the PMs system.
          If it's taken away, it'll be the last straw for me. I've watched Wattpad sink since 2019, but this, it's disgraceful. I have debated leaving in the last year or so, but this decision to rid Wattpad of the PMs, the likelihood of leaving this place behind is higher than ever.
