Long ago, the moon had two deities - Lupa and Luna. Together, they kept order and peace and bore many prosperous sons and daughters over the centuries. One day, the lonely goddess of the sun couldn't stand to see their gloating happiness anymore. In her jealousy, she withdrew the light from one side of the moon, leaving it in darkness. The separation of the moon tore Lupa and Luna apart, cursing them to spend their existences in loneliness, just as the sun goddess did.
In his grief, Lupa looked to Earth and cursed the mortals just as he had been. These chosen humans would be forced to shift into beasts in the full moon’s light and with this curse, werewolves were born. When Luna saw what had become of the humans her lover had selfishly condemned to misery, she wept and her tears granted these humans a kindness -
the will to control.
