This poem is inspired from a personal experience and the hardships I and other girls like me face daily. I wear a headcover called a 'hujab', and I'm 100 percent proud of it. I'm not ashamed at all and I'm proud. It's for my religion, Islam, and no, I wasn't forced to wear it. I chose it. Sometimes when I'm walking home, people yell cruel words at me like 'terrorist', 'ninja', and my most favorite, 'towel head'. Their words hurt and I have no idea why some IGNORANT people don't get the meaning of EVERYONE IS THE SAME. So, this is my poem saying I am no different if I wear a head cover or not. I'm me, and that is all that should matter... So, without further ado, here is my poem, Towel Head.
