Holding back surprise hasn't always been Libby's strong suit. But when Libby Barker, after a distressing, anxiety-filled day, finds her secret study in the library compromised, she no longer has control... Over her footsteps, that is, and ends up knocking herself out after a panic attack.
Being the ever so awkward person she is, Libby ends up embarrassing herself in front of the boy who found her hidden nook. One afternoon after the 'nook incident' she notices the boy has stuck around longer than anyone has, and finds comfort in his company.
Libby learns to deal with her anxiety and finds friendships along the way. She lets her fear from her past wash away, like dry sand being swept into the ocean's waves.
And the hugs from her best friend that remind her of that satisfying feeling of squishing a sand castle and their little nook in the library.
