Fourth in Mafia series can be read on its own.
All of a sudden, a hand shoots out of the darkness and covers my mouth. My eyes widen. Before I can react, I'm already being pulled into the shadows and hidden from the small light projected by the lamppost.
I feel myself pulled into an alleyway and immediately lash out.
Quickly, I shoot my elbow backwards, sending it into my attackers face. At the sound of a grim crack from his nose, he releases me. I don't hesitate before running. My heart pounds in my chest as one question circles my head.
I don't get far though before an arm snakes around my waist pulling me back into the man's hard chest. I attempt to scream but only a muffled cry escapes my lips which are covered by his hand. My hands claw at his, trying to pull his grip off me so I can get out of here.
Before I know it, my body's been slammed harshly into the wall.
His mouths by my ear, whispering so only I can hear him "Please don't scream."
You're out of cash, your apartment rent is over due and to top it off, you've just been fired from your job.
Can't get much worse... Right?
Well, with luck as bad as this, obviously it can.
When trying to get the money together to keep you off the streets at your local bank; obviously, some idiot thinks 'hey, why not rob a bank!'
And OBVIOUSLY, you aren't getting away that easily. No. This bank robber is going to pick YOU out of the many OTHER people in the bank to help him get the money whilst holding you at gun point.
So you're the victim, right?
In the eyes of the law, there was no gun and you were planning to rob the bank all along. So now YOU are a suspect.
Are you really going to risk saying, 'it can't get any worse'?
