[SEQUEL TO HAPPY LITTLE ACCIDENTS]
Arthur Meese has it all: famous parents, amazing grades, popularity, and a knack for playing soccer; one of his favorite sports in the world; that is, until everything changes.
On the day he turns thirteen, Studio C shuts down, crumbling under its own debt and bankruptcy. Arthur's world is changed forever as he and his parents are forced to move away from the place that they've known all their lives.
Arthur soon learns about life in the city of Los Angeles, a place known for foolish dreams and broken hearts, and everything he had begins to shatter before his eyes. His parents quickly begin to run out of money. The fading fame of Matt Meese and Mallory Everton hardly gets him anywhere in his harsh new school. His grades slip. He's labeled an outcast. His home life quickly turns ugly once he uncovers the reasons behind his parents' shouting matches.
Yet all is not lost. Arthur eventually discovers chess, a game that doesn't require the strength of the body, but the strength of the mind. With the help of an unlikely friend and his young and inexperienced teacher with a harsh past, he decides to save his parents from their debt, and in the process, realizes the importance of family, and that maybe you don't need to wear a crown to be a king.
In which a boy is forced to move away from home and learn how to reclaim his crown.
