He pressed the gun towards my temple. ''Come a step closer and she dies.'' He threatened. The police officers froze in their place. I slightly tilt my head. Would it really matter if I died? Would anyone other than Neil care?
I looked at the cops with a newfound determination. ''I don't care if I die, this man deserves to go to jail.'' My voice surprisingly came out strong and confident. The cops eyed each other reluctantly before they looked back at me. I gave them a reassuring smile and nodded.
I looked back at the man holding me at gunpoint. He had an impressed look on his face. He started leaning in towards me. I shut my eyes tightly. I could feel his breath by my ear. ''You've intrigued me, little one. Don't worry, I'll be back for you soon enough.'' he whispered.
My eyes shot open in surprise. He kissed my cheek and took a step back. The gun to the ground with a clatter and he put his arms up in surrender. The police officers didn't waste a moment to put his hands in handcuffs. Just as they were about to leave, the man turned his head towards me.
''Don't forget what I told you, Darling.''
