My Real Fantasy
We were sitting at the edge of the pool when Robert thought it would be funny to push me back into the water.
I let out a yelp as I splashed into the deep water and suddenly I was back at Dreyes, struggling to break the surface of the salty, ocean water.
When my head broke through the surface of the water, I was back at the pool, with Robert laughing his head off on the side.
"I think I'm done swimming," I said quietly as I climbed out of the pool.
"Wait, what?" I heard Robert say. "I'm sorry Carla, I won't push you in anymore." My brother said as he jogged to my side, and I knew he wouldn't.
"It's not that, it's just that...it's complicated." I sighed. When I turned around, a few more images flashed through my mind, but they weren't just images they were memories.
Horses with horns, untamed seas with abnormal serpents...and an old man casting spells.
I pressed my hands to my temples, trying to get rid of them.
"Hey, you okay?" Robert asked, trying to look at my eyes. I could see concern etched all over his face.
"I'm fine, I just need to rest," I answered and turned around to head for the changing room.
The car was filled with an awkward silence as we drove home. I just stared out the window, trying not to remember my time there, trying not to remember all of my friends that I had there, trying not to remember...them.
