A clergyman's wife makes a deal with the devil. The man she tempts becomes a father. His children grow.
Strange things happen in this household. Things move around of their own accord. Crosses turn upside down. The neighbour's goat speaks foul things.
Because the devil always pays his dues. And the devil always collects.

So was the last chapter a prologue? I know this covers how Annie died probably and is about the same three girls but... I'm wondering how this connects to the last chapter aside from that. I'll bet it'll make more sense as I read, though.

I liked the opening sentences. They caught my attention right away. The story has clearly caught my attention. However, the beginning did confuse me some. I wasn't sure who Annie was until much later.

I admit this.chapter has me confused quite a bit. I am not sure exactly where this story is going atthis point

This is well done. I appreciate the tension between Jilly and the Aunty. Across the story is a sense of mystery endowed by the reservation and control in the narration and the characters. Though it is only my interpretation.

Oh so it's set in Kerala! I had no idea the taxis there are white
at first i was very confused in the beginning and i still am. towards the end, i'm assuming the beginning of this story is all how Annie died? if so, then this clears it up for me. then i also know the beginning is you showing the sister's relationship which makes sense to me now.
