The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
"You don't know nearly enough. All you know is how to take. You take everything away, you tear it all down until there's almost nothing left, then you show off the carcass and call it a victory. But mark my words - the first chance I get, I'm going to tear your throat out with my teeth and watch you drown. And it's only when you look into my eyes and you're the one who can't sing that you'll understand who the real monster is."
Trapped on a ship with only thieves, murderers, and criminals for company, Azaziah finds himself caught in a web of depravity, and unwillingly doing their dirty work as they sail in search of the fabled Golden Siren.
Things would have stayed so much simpler if the fiery young creature was exactly what the stories foretold he'd be - a vicious and heartless beast. Questioning his own humanity, Azaziah will learn that misery loves company, and that what is right is not always what is easy.
