[FEATURED] effective strategies on planning and writing stories that get finished and read.

In my story there's this girl who has a mental desease, but she doesn't really has a want cause she's in some way controlled by a dude, but then arrives this guy that changes almost everything. The question is if my character doesn't really have a want can the story work?
What if your book has more than one mc? Should they all have a flaw, or does one person have the flaw?

I have a question.
What if there are 2 protagonists and one of their flaws is being very selfless and would do anything for their loved ones happiness, but the other protagonist is completely the opposite. So, would their strengths be becoming selfless and selfish?
What if a protagonist wants to make his dream come true, but his family is against it and then he flies to another country and falls in love with someone who wants to help him with it? Should I just focus on the 'family vs dreams' theme?
Or you start the story anyways and learn along the way what works and what doers and allow yourself to grow from the experience.
