Anike of Wyttfeather has only known one life, that of lady in waiting to the princess. The two have been friends since age eight when Anike was first brought the castle. But before that Anike's life is a blank. She wonders about her past but with no clues to where she came from, her origins have remained a mystery. That is until one day when she meets an old woman who claims to know exactly who Anike is.

The seemingly harmless, though odd meeting, will turn Anike's world upside down. With her past revealed, her future once set in stone, is now rushing at her like a river. Wyttfeather's fate is at stake. Anike must make a choice, one that could change everything, and perhaps destroy her dearest friend.
