Meet Mei-Yin, a girl from south-western Asia. She resembles the Chinese, with a bit of mongol and Khan. The Warwicks, a noble British couple, moved to this part of Asia 23 years ago. When Susan was without child, they were greatly disappointed. Due to the invading of the village, their neighbor ( Who lives a days travel away) was attacked and their 17 year old daughter was ruined. Having no desire for the child, the Warwicks eagerly stepped in and took the young girl under their wing. Mei-Yin was born in 1783 and immediately adopted into the Warwick family. At the end of 1804, Lord James recieved news that his father had died and he was needed to inherit the earldom of Berkshire, so they prepared to travel back. But what Yin doesn't know, is how much this move will affect her life, forever.

Meet Nathaniel Clarke. He has had the normal life of a British Marquess. He is the oldest of Lord and Lady Clarke, having two younger brothers, Levi and Hugh. He lives with the knowledge that he will inherit Beaufort estate and the title which comes with it. He attended Eton as a lad, and studied at Oxford for a while before returning home. For the last 5 years he has gone to London for a season, but to no avail. His dearest friend, Oliver, lives in London and is determined to marry Nathaniel off.
