In the midst of depression, and contemplating ending it all, he is plunged into an apocalyptic world of the undead, but it is in this hopeless world that he may finally find a meaning to life, after he meets loud-mouth teenager Lizzie.

 #Rebelbc Zombies? I guess, the paragraph is well sentenced and very intense. I also agree with @jemjackman about the word 'menacingly' since the reader has a picture of the undead in his/her mind.

great description. one suggestion i'd make is staying consistent with your contractions, the "he did not dare" kind of sticks out after "wouldn't" and "wasn't" and between the "weren't". but i'm just nitpicking, definitely going to read on! :^)
