Tyler isn't cynical.
Okay, maybe he is- it's not necessarily his fault that he tends to be the Gordon Ramsay of Windy City Fitness and Training. Since he's a veteran who's experienced the morbid aspects of life, he's got reason to be.
So when the two things he despises most- teenagers and a popular survival show- find their way into his life, he's torn between his arrogant ways, haunting past, and the kind personality he used to display before things took a turn for the worst. Tyler doesn't want to make the wrong move, but he finds himself screwing up more than he would have wished. However, despite his mistakes, he finds the courage to recover from the things that have been holding him back in order to take a risk he might not have otherwise taken. And when persuasion to change finally gets to him, he lands himself in a brutal situation of life and death.
