"It must be nice," he whispered, looking down at the world below the bridge. The rushing water seemed to slow for a second, as if the whole world was stopping to hear what he had to say. "Not being afraid of anything."
I stared at him. "No, it's not." I said in a shaky voice, the tears threatening to fall. "Do you have any idea what it feels like to be able to look over the ledge of this bridge and know that if you wanted to, you could jump? And do you know how it feels to want to jump every day?" I asked .
"No," he said, looking me in the eyes. But I know how it feels to be in love with someone who does, and let me tell you," he said shaking his head slightly. "There is nothing more terrifying in this world than loving someone who could."
I took a moment to make sense of his words, finding some of my own out of them.
"No,"I looked at him again. "There is absolutely nothing more terrifying in this world than love. So I guess I am afraid of something."I took a deep breath. "You."
