You don't need to have read The Selection before reading this, but it's an amazing series, so I recommend it. Makena is a child of three. She's a Five. Five as in, fifth caste. Caste as in, ranks. One is royals, two is SUPER RICH models. Three is rich. Four is farming. Five is poor artists.. Six is starving servants. Seven is filth, taking random jobs. Eights is..well, mostly dead after a few years. As Fives her family is musicians, singers, artists. The Selection happens to every male of the throne when he turns 20. 35 girls are chosen to go to the palace. One is chosen to be Queen. So when Prince Colton becomes of age, every girl is scrambling to get in. But not Makena, although she doesn't have a say in that matter, she's entering wether she wants to or not. Even Papa doesn't stand up to Mum on this. Makena is a peacemaker, eccentric, lovable, lives in the moment, but is not queen material. So when she's thrown into a world of ball gowns and glitter can she find friends and love?
