Haley is a sixteen year old loner. Her mom is never around. Her dad is an eternal optimist rooting for a politician everyone else knows has no hope of winning. She hasn't dated a boy since she was fourteen and she got dumped for a girl with bigger boobs. All of her time goes into running the school newspaper, which is so unpopular that the teachers don't even bother to read it. But when Stacey Thompson, the biggest bitch at school, steals Haley's food and dies from eating bad meat, things start to change. Struggling to accept why she's alive instead of the popular Stacey, Haley turns to those she views as misfits. There's Zachary, her homeschooled neighbor who's allergic to sunlight; Colin, the flamboyant thespian she likes until she suspects is gay; Kyler, the obnoxious athlete who may like her; Monica, her rival on the school paper; and Quiet Ted, a shy freshman who may be hiding a secret of his own. Can Haley grapple with the realities of living a year she considers stolen or will time pass her by leaving her with nothing but failed hopes and dreams? *Note: Hi, all.
