Colors of the City (#Wattys 2017)
#113 Science Fiction 5-9-17
In the City, where the adults are shielded from the young, every individual is assigned a certain color that represents their life. Whites are the Government Officials. Yellows are the Teachers. Blues are the Doctors. Browns are the servants. Blacks are the Prisoners. After her Awakening, Erica hopes to be given a color that is high on the social hierarchy. Once she is given her color and her new life begins, she must learn to cope with it. Doing so may be difficult, however, as a young child she is forbidden to speak with suddenly enters her life. But maybe, just maybe, the child may just show her how to show her true colors...and how to spread her wings and fly.
Colors of the City is an exciting, dystopian novel with just a twist of magic!
"This color is going to reflect my life, my job, my friends, everything. I hope, whatever the City chooses for me, is a good one."
"Why are you here? You're not supposed to be here. I'll call a Yellow. O-or a White. You'd better leave. I'm not supposed to speak with you."
"Maybe the only way to truly test your abilities is to stand on the edge of the limits...and jump."
