In Her Shoes
You have heard my story many times, and in the retelling most of the actualities of
my adventure have been relegated to the realm of make believe and fantasy. Magic,
wicked relatives, cruelty, servitude, fairies, and wishes were used to answer the questions of those with no right to them. Public fancy and hysteria did much of the
work spreading the now whimsical tale throughout the known world, and on into
future generations. The truth was far different, the realities of my life, and the lives
of those around me, were much darker, much deadlier than a few mice, a magic pumpkin, and a delicate glass slipper would lead the world to believe.
