@JohnnyNigh123 I made the prologue to foreshadow literally the entire book in a really obscure manner, so I had to make it confusing intentionally otherwise id give away too much =P

@ChristopherSzutenbach indeed true, I chose to see it as linear since, despite periods of slower and faster progression, it still follows a linear pattern from the big picture, instead of an exponential or decaying pattern--the jagged line looks straight if zoomed out far enough

My own thoughts are that the societal progression is even less than linear.  Its mostly stagnant with fits and starts of progress and regression
