Samuel Jefferson and his family move to Seattle, Washington from their small town home in Kansas so that his brother, Patrick, can get a job in a psychology field and have more accepting people around him. However, along with a huge climate change, and an enormous change in surroundings, their mother commits suicide for unknown reasons. Patrick is left to raise Samuel on his own, leaving Sam in a rut of depression and anxiety. Soon, Patrick brings home someone new- a boyfriend named Mael, someone who works with him. Though he's helpful towards Sam's condition, his depression just seems to get worse and worse. The world starts turning grey, he starts having nightmares about the death of those around, and everything just seems to get worse when one of those dreams becomes true. He even starts to remember things that happened back in Kansas, things that Mael claimed would never, ever happen, like resurrecting the family dog. His mind seems only more confused when he gets a crazy girl, a worried seraph, and an unlikely exorcist to help him out, and discover what's really going on.
