Jaisa wasn't the name she was born with. Earth's invaders gave her the name.

She used to have a normal life, complete with a house and a husband. The day the alien invaders descend, calling themselves gods, and slaughter most of humanity, all of that changes. In the society established by the gods, Jaisa's only value is her beauty and ability to please.

In this society of opulence and immorality, the price of disobedience is death. The new gods have enslaved humanity, and to reclaim humanity's future, Jaisa will be an avenging angel. But first, she must find a way to survive, no matter what she must sacrifice.

Beneath 5th City is an excellent science fiction novel. I like the writing and characters.

Oh I have a very bad feeling about what's on the other side of that door! What I really like is that this is a story that's obviously about characters and not just the sci fi/alien world building with stock personality types

These actions feel like they're stalling the pacing. They probably don't need to be so articulate

I have a feeling this has to do with characterising the MC. In this case, implying she didn't want him to see her as weak, or easily scared? I think this could be communicated a little better with a slight exposition, like a slight hint as to what could have framed her mind to think this way.

Haha, I've heard so many things taste like chicken, but, of what I've had, only chicken tastes like chicken.
