"The first chance I get, I'm going to tear your throat out with my teeth and watch you drown. And it's only when you look into my eyes and you're the one who can't sing that you'll understand who the real monster is."
Azaziah Azar isn't cruel. He's not like the pirates who surround him. He never would have led them to the fabled Golden Siren if he'd known it really existed. He wishes he hadn't.
Az and the siren are both trapped on board The Aigeal, captained by the unstable Rowan Slade and forced to work for him. At first, they want nothing to do with each other. To Az, the siren is an unfeeling, dangerous predator. To the siren, Az is just another pirate out to make a pretty penny off his shining golden scales. But as Slade's plans for the siren escalate, Az realises that maybe sirens and humans aren't so different after all.
When feelings start to develop between the two, and Slade's work causes the siren's stress to reach its peak, Az will learn that what is right isn't always what is easy.
