A mermaid-obsessed teenager must overcome her selective mutism in order to rid the world of an artificial music app that has rendered human singing obsolete.

In the year 2020, a new artificial music app called SirenSong has gone viral, wiping out every major record label on the planet and rendering human singing obsolete. The key to breaking the SirenSong spell and saving the music industry may lie with seventeen-year-old Ariel, but there's a problem: she suffers from something called selective mutism, meaning she can only speak (and sing) if she's alone. Thinking herself cursed like her fairytale namesake, she sees her chance to overcome the condition through her connection with Zac, the grandson of an out-of-work record executive who leads The Disruption -- a group of music-lovers determined to find the one human voice that's more powerful than SirenSong's mesmerizing app. But will Zac turn Ariel's life into a retelling of her favourite fairytale? Or will her unhealthy obsession with all-things-mermaid lead her to nothing but heartbreak?
