For Imei and Aldo Satsubara, it was always the intention to leave home, guided by years spent in dedication to the Alma. With the arrival of a stranger to their village, dressed as an outsider but welcomed as a son, those long-awaited plans are dramatically and tragically altered.
Thank you so much to everybody who is reading Shadows of Autumn, and thank you to all my new followers! Happy reading!
Shadows of Autumn is a high fantasy story, with themes of family, friendship, love, hate, tragedy and, above all, courage. It is purposefully written to be a slow burner, with special emphasis being cast upon the relationships the main characters have with the people of their village, and the Alma. This story serves as a prologue of sorts, for a future novel tentatively titled 'the Cloistered Emperor.' It exists as an exercise in world and character building, working with a set of cultural themes that I have previously had little experience with.
I pride myself on grammatical accuracy, though I mostly do what my girlfriend tells me. Which usually turns out to be right. Or, at least, better. I try to proof-read everything thoroughly.
