Corporal Jason Williams, Parachute Regiment, is hitting his thirtieth birthday. Claiming that is the one and only reason for his request of leave, he's granted extended time off to head home and recuperate after two years being on active duty.
But Jason ends up in the arse crack of Wales, visiting his best friend, Micky O'Neill, explaining he needs solitude from life for a while.
Jason's used to hiding- in harsh terrain, at the bottom of a bottle, from scorned ex-girlfriends and, sometimes, their husbands. He's an expert at hiding his feelings, too. But hiding what really happened back on the barracks to make him flee the army once again becomes increasingly difficult the more time spent in Micky's blissful domestic life with husband Dan.
Especially when Micky, and Dan, might be the only ones who would understand.
