The Darling Girl
The Darling Girl is a modern continuation of a classic tale of love and eternal childhood, Peter Pan, but told with a twist, from Wendy’s perspective. Wendy, a young girl in modern day has lost her mother and lives with her dad and brother and the occasional visit from her maternal grandmother. After the loss of her lifetime love she falls for the strange new boy at school. As their relationship begins and deepens she begins to unravel secrets about her past. This boy has known her once before many, many lifetimes ago, and then her grandmother and even her mother. She begins to realize that the world around her is not as it seems and as she grows into a young woman she uncovers secrets her mother kept that lead her to a world we all know as the Never Land. Lured by Captain Hook as bait to capture Peter Pan and repay the debt of losing his hand, she goes to Never Land as a captive. As Wendy learns to accept her fate she grows strong and fights to defend the unraveling family legacy kept hidden for so long. Pirates, fairies, mermaids, and of course the Lost Boys all play a part in her journey as Wendy overcomes her fears and learns to love a boy who can never truly grow up.
